I became a Distinguished Toastmaster, took a Dale Carnegie speaking course, and I've attended events by plenty of speaker coaches including Brian Tracy. There was always something missing.
The missing link in the other programs including Dale Carnegie, is that they teach you all about the theory of speaking and you get no speaking time. We'd like to avoid dealing with people who either can't hang, or get disgruntled for whatever reason. We give you the exact exercises and resources but you HAVE to put in the effort.
All Your Questions Regarding Speaker Secrets Answered
Is there a group coaching option?
There will be, as the calendar fills two things continually happen; our fees go up, and you will have to work with others. Not that group training is bad, the difference is that you'll be doing the same exercise when training in a group as training private. That means that your speaking time drops significantly in a group. Listen, if you tell Devin that you can talk to a couple of people, but you fear talking to a group. You don't understand speaking well enough. Learning speaking by speaking in front of a group is only effective if you are practicing the right techniques, if you're not practicing the exact right way, you are learning bad habits. Think of it like this, you don't learn to dribble a basketball during games, you learn to dribble by always having a ball on you, so you can bounce it on all surfaces without having to pass it every 5 seconds.
What's the time commitment?
4 hours in one month with Devin, and then however long it takes to complete the video exercises. Devin shoots response videos in real time and shows you the process of improving. One video might take you two minutes to make, and another video could take 30 minutes to create. You don't do fancy video editing because you want to just create your video, and send it. If this scares you then good. How many people can watch themselves back on camera without being judgemental??? You have to get over that if you want to be a speaker.
How do the events work?
Right now we're honing in our marketing efforts so we can build up a network of professionals. We have one big date in mind, the 3rd weekend in October. There will be training because that's what we do, and we'll have an NHL Goalie mindset coach work on our mindset, and then speakers in this program will have opportunities to share your knowledge, experience, plug your business, or just attend the event, it's up to you. There will also be cash prizes and incredible speaking challenges.
I'm looking at other options, why choose Devin?
Don't, unless you are serious about developing your speaking skills. Devin is a guy who was so serious about speaking and leading that he once drew eyes on blank papers and pasted them around his living room so he had a 24 hour practice audience.
